Bernd Zimmer, born in 1948, is one of the most important representatives of the “Junge Wilde” movement in Germany. He has developed an unmistakable style that is characterized by the combination of free, abstract painting and a figurative quality that is always related to nature. His most recent series of paintings, “Schwimmendes Licht” (Floating Light), is published extensively for the first time in this catalog.Bernd Zimmer's work is characterized by a profound experience of nature and the world. In recent years, he has developed a broad spectrum of motifs in comprehensive groups of works, from the “Cosmos” pictures to waterfalls, shore scenes and dense vegetation to free-floating light reflections in the “Floating Light” series. Under the title “Everything Flows”, the publication accompanying the exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Heidenheim and the Museum Angerlehner in Upper Austria presents a selection of these work cycles, whose flowing transitions express the inner coherence of his painting as an eventful process of natural events and perception on canvas.
