Elmgreen & Dragset’s POWERLESS STRUCTURES, FIG. 101 is the artists’ subversive take on the equestrian sculptural tradition for the Fourth Plinth Commission in London’s Trafalgar Square (2012-2013), where it was sited among the existing historical, heroic statues that adorn the square. The boy on his rocking horse emphasizes the prospects for the future, rather than commemorating the often violent events of the past.
