CLAUDIA COMTE
FRUITS AND BODIES

VILLA WENKENHOF, RIEHEN, SWITZERLAND
30 MAY – 13 JUNE 2018
FRUITS AND BODIES was a site-specific installation and performance by Swiss artist Claudia Comte, winner of the Alexander Clavel Foundation Prize 2018. A series of seven marble sculptures of enlarged fruits suspended in four-post cages can be viewed in the round, all within the surroundings of the Villa’s garden. While marble signifies antiquity and stability, the condition of the depicted fruit or body is often allegorical, both are perishable and ephemeral.Seven Sculptures
