For this new feature of our series STUDIO SOUNDS, artist Emily Weiner selected her favorite tunes to listen to while working in her atelier in Nashville, USA, and gathered them into a playlist. EMILY WEINER

Emily Weiner (b. 1981 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American painter living and working in Nashville, TN. She received a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University, and her MFA from The School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Emily Weiner’s paintings consider the art canon through a feminist and Jungian lens. By reconfiguring symbols that have been recycled throughout the history of art, her work questions how archetypal images are shared across generations – and how familiar symbols might be reordered to generate new, collective understanding.
