ZSÓFIA KERESZTES
TREMBLING EMPIRE

MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS LIBEREC, LIBEREC, CZECH REPUBLIC
28 FEBRUARY – 1 JUNE 2025

The Museum Of Fine Arts Liberec presents TREMBLING EMPIRE, a solo exhibition by Zsófia Keresztes, who is a prominent figure in the Czech art scene, where the younger generation feels a certain sense of belonging and visual identification. The exhibition will be the second solo show in the Czech Republic after major exhibitions at internationally prestigious institutions and exhibitions (e.g., the Hungarian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, Gianni Manhattan in Vienna, KÖNIG GALERIE in Berlin), offering a unique opportunity to see a leading figure of the Hungarian art scene, known for her distinctive sculptural style.

Zsófia Keresztes' style is amorphous to fluid forms, reminiscent of large bodily masses. Her volumes evoke not only surrealist bodies but also a strong reference to French Nouveau Réalisme, specifically to the artist Niki de Saint Phalle.
