KATHARINA GROSSE
FUGES IN COLOR

FONDATION LOUIS VUITTON, VENICE, ITALY
4 MAY – 29 AUGUST 2022

Katharina Grosse is part of the group exhibition "Fuges in Color" at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

Katharina Grosse is featured with two unprecedented installations created especially for Fondation Louis Vuitton. Presented on the top floor of the Fondation, "Fuges in Color" («La Couleur en fugue») presents works through which paint is free to escape the limited scope of the canvas. Colours and shapes discover new freedoms as they consume the surrounding spaces, such as the walls, floor, and ceiling. The diverse variations of colour, extend into the architecture in close interaction with the Frank Gehry - designed building, and include works by five internationally-renowned artists of various origins and generations.Katharina Grosse, a veteran of expansive in situ interventions, inserts a dynamic structure composed of overlapping triangular shapes into Gallery 10. Painting across the wall, the ground and the wooden structure, Grosse turns the space into an «interface between painting and daylight» and participates in the propulsion of colour in a flamboyant choreography of great momentum. Moreover, the artist will execute an unprecedented work commissioned by Fondation Louis Vuitton, which will be on display beginning in September. This new work will be installed in “the canyon” interacting with the multilayered complexity of Frank Gehry’s atypical architectural space. Katharina Grosse is also featured at Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia. As part of the 59th edition of the Biennale International Art Exhibition till 27 November 2022, she presents a massive print on metal mesh specially created for the space.Katharina Grosse
